When I open Thunderbird I get the error message "Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window." I cant see an older Thunderbird process to close, and Thunderbird is actually working fine. If I click the close button Thunderbird closes and re-opens

I have a similar problem, but TB does not work at all. My Thunderbird app has gotten corrupted. I get the message"Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. The old Thunderbird process must be closed to open a new window." clicking on the close button does nothing, in a moment I get the same message back. I tried deleting Thunderbird and re-installing - no change, i still get the message. Even after shutting done several times and even pulling the power after shutting down. How can I get my Thunderbird back?
