How do I display tabs on multiple lines?

more options

Before some recent update, I was able to display my tabs on up to three lines without having to scroll. Now, all tabs, often 30-40 between my wife and I, are all on one line so that I have to scroll horizontally to find the one I want. I understand I can click to get a dropdown list, but would prefer to have multiple lines as in the past. Is that possible, and if so, how?

I assume that you had an extension that added this feature. I see you have another thread about the tabs.

First, have you considered opening separate windows for you and your wife? It's nice that you share, but all those tabs in one window is like a whole family in a twin bed! (You can start a new window any time with Ctrl+n.)

But back to your question. What you're describing probably was accomplished with an add-on. Firefox 57 doesn't let extensions make that kind of change, so right now, you have to apply a custom style rule to the tab bar. Here's one example of how to do that:

(A) Create a new chrome folder in your profile folder. This article has the steps for that (#1, #2, and optionally #3)

https://www.userchrome.org/how-create-userchrome-css.html

(B) Download the following file and move it into that chrome folder (creates up to 5 rows of tabs):

https://www.userchrome.org/samples/userChrome-multi_row_tabs.css

(C) Rename that file to just userChrome.css

The next time you quit Firefox and start it up again, it should discover that file and apply the rules.

Is that closer to what you're looking for?
