After at least one year with no trouble. the error message tells me to close down all files for not to lose data. the memory is too small. This is caused by thunderbird. for a period I have deleted a lot of old emails, but to no help. I may send a copy of the error msg as a reply to Your email later when it occurs again.

After deleting emails did you compact the folders?

Compacting removes marked as deleted emails and recovers space in the files.

To compact a folder: Right click on eg: Inbox and select 'Compact'

To compact all folders; 'File' > 'Compact folders'.

You can see the size of your folders before and after compacting by enabling the following:

Via 'Menu Bar'; 'View' > 'Layout' > select 'Folder Pane columns' or via 'Mail Toolbar': 'Menu icon' > 'Options' >' Layout' > select 'Folder Pane columns'

Then click on small icon in folder pane - see image select 'Size'
