Your automatic update just crashed about a dozen tabs of legal research I had open. Fix it where this does not happen! Hours and hours of work!!!!!!!!!

I know you are volunteers, but it's very frustrating to have firefox just decide to update without warning and dump all my tabs. I had about a dozen 4th amendment cases open, and I know I can go back through my history and find them, but I use the internet a lot and have lots of sites to filter through to isolate the cases I want again. My time is generally at least $250/hour. I do not want updates unless I authorize them!

We are very sorry that Firefox has crashed.

If you are having issues with Firefox 43.0 crashing, then please be aware that a patch was released today. I'm not sure if this will repair your issue, but please try updating to version 43.0.1.

Also, please note that you can disable automatic updates in the Firefox options. This setting can be found in the Advanced section, under the Update tab.

Backup the session files in the sessionstore-backups folder in the Firefox Profile Folder to make sure not to lose possible important session data. Do NOT close Firefox when Firefox is already running.

You will normally find these files in the sessionstore-backups folder:

previous.js (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.js from previous session that was loaded successfully)
recovery.js (latest version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
recovery.bak (previous version of the sessionstore written during runtime)
upgrade.js-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)

You can copy a file from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile and rename the file to sessionstore.js to replace the current file (make a backup copy of the current sessionstore.js).
