Hello :) I have been a user of Firefox for a long time. Recently I start getting the Blue Screen of Death "BSOD" a lot when I click some links or sites! when this happens my computer restarts, then I find that all my Passwords have been reset in Firefox. I tested other browsers to open those links and its okay, I only face it with Firefox. In the attachment is a photo of the Error. Thanks in advance

Please post some of those links.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

There was an overlay covering the page but I had no problem.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?

The BSOD issue is probably better addressed by asking on some Windows Forum or the Microsoft site itself. You could have all sorts of issues after recovering from BSOD, and it is unlikely you will get any proper Firefox Crash ID if you have a BSOD.

Anyone's guess as to what causes that and with Firefox but not other browsers, but if I had that issue I would probably think about looking at video/graphics or malware; or especially if also on other programs a RAM memory issue.

From a Firefox perspective try in Firefox's safe mode and with all plugins disabled, does that help at all ? If Firefox's safe mode helps also try both with hardware acceleration on and off. If it is better with hardware acceleration off the also consider looking at graphics driver updates.

If you look at graphics drivers try both upgrading and then if necessary rolling back to whatever was your previous driver.

However as I mentioned earlier I think your first port of call should be a Windows forum.

To check out RAM do an overnight test with a memtest tool. Any fail whatsoever is usually bad news

FredMcD Yes problem still there even in Windows safe mode!

john99 My graphic card driver is up to date, and my PC is free from Malware I believe. The problem is still there even when starting Firefox in safe mode with Hardware Acceleration Off. I will do the Memtest86 test as soon as I can. And will defenetly look into the Windows Forums for help  :) Thank you. Note: my windows is pirated, i fear it might be a problem to address in Windows forums!!!

Happy112 Thanks for posting the link.

Try some third party forum such as

Totally outside the scope of this forum to advocate for any specific OS but why not consider something legal. There re large choices of Linux distros many of then would dual boot with Windows or even run off a memory stick or even at a push a CD/DVD, they are nearly all available free of charge.

Puppy is; at least when initially installed; amazingly small, it will run off a Floppy Disk if anyone remembers them. It can also easily run within another OS. Just take care if you try it, because it is an incredibly powerful OS despite its child like interface.

Happy112 Thanks for the input :)

John99 I had tested my ram with Memtest86 and no errors were found. Regarding the free OS you suggested, It is interesting and I might try in the future.

  • I made a topic in severforums.com as some suggested to address my issue in Windows forums.

Thanks everyone for the Help. Have a great day :)

Where did you post in sevenforums.com it has a whole section on BSOD

it may be interesting to follow your progress

If you do still actually get Firefox crashes and it submits Crash reports then they are most likely to be helpful if they are from Firefox's safe mode with all plugins disabled: see #answer-913012

John99 Here is my topic: Sevenforums I did what you suggested earlier, starting Firefox in safe mode with themes, plug-ins, extensions and hardware acceleration off. but it did not help I still get the BSOD :( if this what you meant by your last post.

Just to cover the bases,

Perform a System File Check to fix corrupted system files Win 7, 8, 10, Vista: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833 Win XP: https://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/system_file_checker.mspx?mfr=true

See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

Presumably it still crashes. I did not find the actual thread you posted in the other forum. Have you got the link for the thread ? Did their advice help at all?

They can't help me because I have pirated software on my PC, they requested I remove them so they can proceed with the troubleshooting. Well, am just gonna format my PC and do a clean install of the softwares, anyway I do this once a year to keep my machine fresh. So i guess I wont have the problem anymore. Thank you all: John99 - FredMcD - Happy112 for giving time and follow with my issue and for your informative inputs :) I really appreciate that. BTW John99, I have installed Linux Mint on a pen drive for test, its pretty interesting and I am considering to learn the Linux way :) Regards
