I need to retrieve bookmarks and passwords on another computer I have that is dead in the water -- no power and it will not recharge.

If you can put the HDD from the old system in a enclosure or a sata to usb connection you can then try mount hdd on new system and recover stuff from your old Profile.

Note, make sure you can view hidden folders and files in the file manager you use.
