Overnight, Firefox shuts down. Not the computer, just Firefox. No new add-ons.

For the past week or two, I find that Firefox has shut down overnight. Nothing else on my computer shuts down, just Firefox. A couple of times, I've had the "Restore Session" on the opening tab.

I've looked through all the settings / options, and don't see any that say to shut down Firefox. I HAD been allowing automatic updates to process, but this morning, I changed that setting to the one that allows download, but let me decide when to install.

I have NOT added any new add-ons, which I've read can cause this problem.

Help???

Tonight as you are going to bed,

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Okay, I'm in safe mode. I'll let you know this weekend if the problem continues.

Thanks for your quick response.

Well, it shut down overnight (while in safe mode and no addons), and now I am NOT in safe mode.

Plan B ???? The mystery continues............

That this happens with Firefox in Safe Mode means that something else on your system is doing this.

Look thru what is on your system. Anything you don't know, use a web search on it.
