That cloud icon just means the app is associated with your Apple account, but is not installed on your device.

Thanks Chris, however, what does the downward pointing arrow indicate?

Secondly, can I use Ff 5.1 without it being associated with/linked to my Apple account?

  • The icon [combination of cloud and arrow] means "tap here to download the app onto this device"
  • No, in order to install apps on an iPad, they need to installed using the app store, and you need an Apple account to use the app store.
