AVG Safe Search is not compatable with FireFox 6. I went through the steps from the website, but they don't help. Can it be enabled again?
I restarted FireFox again in safe mode, cleared all of my cache and cookies, and nothing seems to be helping. I even tried to go through my userface of AVG Free edition 2011, but I didn't even have the options it was telling me to go through.

AVG has an update to their extension but you may need to do a manual update:

When updating, make sure that you quit Firefox first.
Latest info from AVG is that they will have an update for Safe search before end of August.
Also this from AVG: Please rest assured you are still protected by AVG even if you have already upgraded to Firefox 6.0. The AVG Active Surf Shield component is still checking all data and will prevent you from accessing malicious content even though search results verdict icons are not available temporarily.
I had chatted with AVG Tech Help. They have confirmed that AVG Safe Search is still NOT compatible with Firefox 6 yet, only the AVG Toolbar is. They are working on it right now and will release the next update once it is done.
Here's the information from AVG forum, read the last post by DrDemento:

I just want to let you all know that if you upgrade your AVG to AVG 2012, your AVG Safe Search will be compatible with Firefox 6 and back on the add-on list (AVG Safe Search 12.0.0.1787). I have the paid version, so I am not sure about the Free version.
