I can not make send link work on my laptop

I have outlook set as default, also have gmail. I have tried every suggestion in the help pages to make "send link" in the file menu work but it is totally unresponsive. I have no problem on my desktop just on this laptop that is running windows 7

P.S. I see that you posted Troubleshooting information in "more system details" and it shows the following modified preference:

network.protocol-handler.external.mailto
..... which is set to false.

You need to reset it to the default "true" value so, do this:

  1. Type about:config in the Firefox address bar and press Enter
  2. If you see a page with the warning message, This might void your warranty!, click the button labeled "I'll be careful, I promise!", to continue
  3. Type network in the Filter
  4. In the list of preferences, find network.protocol-handler.external.mailto (it will be in bold)
  5. Right-click on that preference and select Reset.

This will change the value to the default "true" and should resolve the problem.

I also noticed another modified network preference, network.protocol-handler.expose.mailto which is modified to true. You can reset it to the default "false" value the same way.

...Look under Extension issues (copied below). Dd you ever have the Google Toolbar installed? That could be causing the problem:

Extension issues

The Google Toolbar for Firefox includes a "Send with Gmail" feature that changes the mail program used in Firefox to Gmail, regardless of what is set in Firefox options or your system default mail program. It is recommended that you do not select the "Send with Gmail" option in the Google Toolbar. Firefox already has a "Use Gmail" option available by default in the Applications listing for mailto actions (see above). More importantly, uninstalling the Google Toolbar extension with the "Send with Gmail" feature enabled may leave you with Firefox opening nothing at all for mailto links. You can resolve this issue by resetting the Firefox user preference network.protocol-handler.external.mailto to the default "true" value in about:config. See Resetting preferences for details.
Note: the Google Toolbar is no longer supported by Google for Firefox 5 and up
