Att Email will work on Att Web Site but same Password will not work in Thunderbird

I have been using Thunderbird for years. Yesterday it quit working. I reinstalled 2 of my Emails and they slowly started to work. My Email, reb68@att.net. says the Password is wrong. I went to Att's web site and the mail came up there with the same password and username. Now I cannot reinstall it because it says invalid username or password. I am using Thunderbird 45.2.0

My Email that is working is reb@barmannsbar.com Thank you Dick Barmann

I tried setting up that Email about a dozen times. I set it up in my desktop PC and it worked the first time. about 30 minutes later I tried it again in the laptop and it worked like it should. I do not know what the solution is but it is solved now.

Have you rebooted your machine? Disabled email scanning in your anti virus? Contacted ATT to see if they have a mail outage?

I tried all that you mentioned. I go to add Email and enter the name--reb68@att.net and enter the password ( which I know is right because I can go to the web site att.net ands go to Mail and enter the same as above and get 60 Emails.I do not understand it because I have used Thunderbird for a long time and never had a problem. Thank you for any help, Dick Barmann

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
