Auto-fill for other countries

Hi there! I am a long time Chrome user and decided to try Mozilla Firefox. I loved it and after a bit of tweaking, I run into a problem I can't deal with myself. In Chrome I loved auto fill options every time I needed the option for my home address, email address or credit card. In Firefox I just can't do it. The option is only available for Canada or SUA. Is there any way I can make it work? Of course, I looked for some add-ons and actually found several, but given the fact that auto-fill in my case deals with personal and sensitive data, I need a safer method. Is there any? Thank you!

There is a way to force the feature "on" but whether it will have all the features necessary for your location is a different question. Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste addresses.supported and pause while the list is filtered

Firefox should list two preferences: extensions.formautofill.addresses.supported and extensions.formautofill.addresses.supportedCountries

(3) Double-click the extensions.formautofill.addresses.supported preference to display an editing field, and change the value to on then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change.

(4) I don't know whether it is strictly necessary, but I suggest one more change: double-click the extensions.formautofill.addresses.supportedCountries preference to display an editing field, and add your two-letter country code. For example, if you are physically located in the UK: if the preference is blank, just list GB, and if it has "US,CA" already, add a comma and then GB (without an extra space). Then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change. Similarly for AU, etc.

Success?

Thanks for the reply! It's not that the auto fill option is not there. It is. But it only allows Canada or USA for country location. Firefox is displayed in English and I use Linux Mint 21.1 (if this matters).

Thank you! I got stuck at step 2. The value for extensions.formautofill.addresses.supported is only " detect". I am able to edit it. But what should I write, "on"?

I am back. I moved past the second step and went to the third. I added my country after the two already existing, with no space and it worked, but this message shows up on the bottom of the auto-fill form: "Form Autofill is currently available only for certain countries".

It worked! I can save my address now and my country appears in the country list. I'd like to test it, but I don't know how :) Thank you for your help!

Sorry, had a conference call, but it sounds like you got there.

I was going to say you could test on online shopping sites, but once they get your email, it's a nightmare, so maybe not.

It's alright. Your reply really helped. I also managed to add my credit card too, which I couldn't in the past. In fact, it imported the data, but didn't allow me to manage it as it didn't appear in settings. Now everything is fine. Thank you!
