New tabs look awful!

I really dislike the look of the tabs in the newest version. A floating bubble, not connected to the page, for the active tab? And the inactive tabs are connected, but there is no separation between the tabs? Aside from uninstalling the latest version and installing a previous version, is there a way to restore the look of the previous version? Maybe an add-on? If I have to reinstall an old version I'll probably just switch over to a different browser.

You can use code in userChrome.css to override changes in Firefox 89+ with the new Proton design.

I keep trying the instructions from the links as best I can as a user not normally messing around with those types of things. And each time the view remains the same.

Assuming you have placed the userChrome.css file (so named) in a folder named chrome in your profile folder, have you marked the following preference in about:config as true? toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets
