How do I get an add-on to install

I recently installed Firefox. I could not get an add on to install. When I hit "add to Firefox", I would get an on-screen notification that it was downloading and then nothing. I tried multiple add-on's with the same results. I uninstalled Firefox and installed Firefox beta. Same thing. What am I missing?

Are you trying to install a Extension from addons.mozilla.org ?

This is for mobile Firefox for Android. https://addons.mozilla.org/android/

This is for desktop Firefox on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/

You can change section at top where it says Other Applications.
