I read the posts that were related to my question but I did not see what I wanted. I would like to refresh Firefox or reset to defaults to try to improve Firefox speed, but I do not want to loose my plugins or add-ons. I don't want to reinstall them in case I can not find them any more or something like that. Plus it is a pain to have to do that. I would like to suggest something that you should have had all along and I know it will please a huge number of your users. Please modify your refresh program/routine to give users the options in the refresh or reset to keep our add-ons and plugins. The way you are doing it now is like our corrupt, inept government's way of throwing in many unrelated bad things in a bill so it has to be passed with everything or not at all. I'm not saying you are corrupt or inept, that applies to the government only. Give us the option to refresh and fix issues with Firefox without having to delete all the add-ons and plugins. In fact being able to do this and select which add-ons and plugins or even extensions would be a help in trouble shooting what specifically is causing the issues with Firefox as well. I'm a programmer and I know it would not be that big a fix / modification.

Hi valhalla, Sorry you are disappointed with the refresh feature.

If we are not careful we could end up with a reset that does nothing. Or go back to the old safe mode settings options, I liked them. The only problem was some options were displayed too early in the workflow.

Plugins are not disabled or uninstalled by the reset. Firefox probably could not uninstall plugins anyway as they are installed and removed by the OS.

The add-ons are a major cause of problems, so removing them is arguably worthwhile. There is work in progress to modify the refresh system so that in some future version it is hoped it will be able to remove the add-ons but provide links for reinstalling them.

The Firefox reset (old name) or refresh (new name) is designed to be user friendly and easy to use. It is designed for casual or novice users of Firefox who may not have the time, inclination, or knowledge to do more complex troubleshooting.

Furthermore there are proposals and work in progress to design a much better interactive and intelligent system for doing this.

Firefox has a lot of people who give time as volunteers, if you wish to contribute your own coding skills and time to the projects I will be able to provide further information. You may be interested in glancing at this interactive page http://www.whatcanidoformozilla.org/#!/progornoprog

If you wish to disable plugins, or disable or remove individual add-ons it is relatively easy to do from Firefox's UI

I have replied to your post. But the subject of development decisions and policies is not strictly within the scope of this forum. If you wish to discuss the subject I suggest you try looking at
