I changed my tabs to the bottom and the top area around it and sides turned red- how can I fix this?

I'm not terribly computer savvy- so I'm not sure on the right terminology. I followed instructions to change my tabs to the bottom instead of the top, and the whole area around it, turned red. Is there any way to fix this, or do I have to go back to having the tabs on top?

Thanks in advance!
