i open new tabs and when i restart it goes back to the same session i had before opening those tabs. turned addons on and off, checked ff settings and it restores last session, but i still have the same session opening no matter what.

Thought it was Session Manager but i disabled it and it stays the same.

session manager can't save at all anyway, error shows like this:

"This operation failed due to a file access error: Component returned failure code: 0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsICookieManager2.getCookiesFromHost]

Edit a Question _ Firefox Help-2011-04-22.session

JS frame :: resource://gre/components/nsSessionStore.js :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 2140"

i also noticed that my Recently closed Tabs History is not being updated....

There may be a problem with the file that contains the details of sessions. Try deleting the file to see if it helps.

  1. Open your profile folder, for details of how to find it see this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles
  2. Close Firefox
  3. In the profile folder delete sessionstore.js plus if it exists sessionstore.bak

Now test to see if it saves details of the sessions.

meanwhile i reverted back to 3.6.16 and everything is fine. But i think too the session file may be causing the problem in 4. i'll try to install it again in a few days and see what happens. thanks

I played with session files in FF4 and could not get tabs to behave normally and browser to shut down with save tabs option.

my solution was to downloaded 3 again, backed up my bookmarks to be safe, removed FF4 - keeping my personal settings, reinstalled 3.

Everything is now back to normal including tabs.
