Embedded Images Aren't Showing any more

more options

I am currently using Thunderbird 102.2.0 (64-bit)running on Mac OS Monterey. Over the last two updates, I've noticed that all my email messages aren't showing embedded images like they used to. I either get a white page with some text and active links or a white page with outlined white boxes indicating where an image is supposed to be. In the case of Apple News messages, some white boxes have an attached white box with an active "Shop now" link.

I have not had "Allow Remote Content in Messages" ticked on before, but had a long list of exceptions to allow them for some URLs. Previously, some marketing messages from stores would have a note at the top that Thunderbird didn't load remote images to protect me and I could click in it to say I want to see the images. That note doesn't come up now when no images are displayed. I have not changed any settings with the new updates.

I have now ticked "Allow Remote Content in Messages" on and restarted Thunderbird, but still no embedded images are showing in any messages even though I've ticked that on and the Exceptions list still has the Allowed URLs that can show remote material. I am surprised that even messages from Apple don't display images. Apple isn't a Security risk for Mac users. This makes no sense. How do I get all images to show from allowed senders?

Do you have an antivirus? They are a principal cause of this on windows.

Thank you. Are you saying that an antivirus program causes that problem on Windows? Interesting. As I said: I am currently using Thunderbird 102.2.0 (64-bit) running on Mac OS Monterey. I do have a virus checker for my iMac and the scans are run daily with nothing found. I've been using it for years and it has never caused a problem with any mail apps.

I am still having this problem of not getting any images to show in the messages that come to me. This includes inline images (signature cards, photos, ads) and attached images. The messages are not forwarded mail, but mail sent directly to me. Images have always appeared in the past but for over a month now, I can't get the images to show.

Sometimes, I just get an outlined box showing where an image is supposed to be. At other times, I get just the links that the image would have gone to if I'd clicked on them. I've attached a screen capture of a recent message.

I'd really appreciate some help with this. I have ticked "Allow remote content in messages" on but that doesn't help. I never had to do that before and I got all images in messages except for when Thunderbird occasionally decides to block remote images and asks me if I want to see them.

I am using Thunderbird version 102.3.1 (64-bit) on an iMac running MacOS 12.6 (Monterey)
