This has been happening for some months. It's not a problem but is rather odd. This shows in a file (NEWMAIL) to which incoming messages are passed after filtering. I'm not a heavy mailer but have been using T'bird (and Firefox) for many years.

sounds like the emails are losing the date header.

do this: Backup your Profile because it is not known if you have any corrupt folders.

Delete all unwanted emails. Empty junk and Trash compact all folders.
