How can I get my address bar to work? I type in words, and the drop-down menu suggests sites, but when I click on one and hit "Enter," it doesn't advance.

I can type in full web addresses, keywords, click on the drop-down menu sites listed, but no matter what, nothing with happen when I hit "Enter." I read one article that said to type in about:config in the address bar to access some options, but when I type that in and hit Enter, nothing happens. I love Firefox, but I can't go anywhere unless I use my google search toolbar on the side or it is a bookmark.

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

You could try disabling your Ask Toolbar extension - a regular troublemaker. Even if this is not of immediate help it is something you should do anyway. Use the Search Box above or Google for information and advice.

It must have been an addon. The address bar worked in safe mode, so then I went back in regular mode, turned off the hardware accelerations, and it worked too. Then I went back and disabled some old addons, and everything worked great. Thanks for the help!

I already disabled and removed them, and I don't know which one exactly was the culprit, but these are the ones I removed because I didn't think I really needed them: Greasemonkey and FFixer. I think there was another one, but I can't remember the name, but I figured that it was an addon that had to do with changing graphics on the browser. If any of someone else's addons change the graphics, that may be the addon that is affecting the address bar too.
