Is Mozilla working on the below email I have received from Microsoft? "The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.


What do you need to do?

If you are receiving this email, you are currently using an email or calendar app that uses a less secure authentication method to connect to your Outlook.com email account. You will need to upgrade your third-party mail and calendar app to a version which supports modern authentication methods.

Microsoft provides free versions of Outlook for your PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices which can be easily downloaded and connect to your email account. Using an updated version of an Outlook application will ensure you are connecting in the most secure way.

How can you set up your Gmail, Apple Mail, or other third-party mail application?

Various non-Microsoft applications will have their own steps for connecting to your Outlook.com email account using modern authentication methods. See our help article - Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps. However, you may need to contact the creators of those applications to provide you with instructions. In many cases, simply removing and re-adding your account with the latest version of that application will configure it to use modern authentication methods.

I use Thunderbird (64bit, 128.0) to check my gmail account. When composing an email I can not choose google drive when sending an attachment. I've tried installing the google drive desktop app on my computer but once selecting the file I want to send, I get an error that I don't have permission to access that file.

"Sending of the message failed. There was an error attaching Expenses 2020.gsheet. Please check that you have access to the file."

It is a file I own. I can however, send a pdf file that was stored in my google drive.

How do I send google drive files using thunderbird email? Thanks in advance for the help. Todd

When you have multiple (2) accounts with previous accounts, the passwords are many. I can not get logged in as the passwords I use are not working. My account does work on my Windows 10 and I am on a Mac mini. I am working with Optimum.net server. I know, today, there are network across the world with problems. MicroSoft, it seems. I added an new Office365 account into Thunderbird alongside my gmail. I have asked the organisation admin to enable 2FA/MFA.

Settings were automatically detected by Thunderbird and account added through MFA. Downloading of alla messages and folders were no problem.

But I'm unable to send email through the smtp-server (TB added smtp.office365.com). "Login with username xxxx failed" (it is correct username)

"Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'."

I've manually changed to smtp-mail.outlook.com as suggested by the KB from MS.

Tried with latest release of TB and latest beta (129b3), MacOS. Tried with clean new profile. Clearing passwords and cookies.

I'm using Thunderbird version 115.12.2 on Mac Sonoma 14.5. Every once and a while, when Thunderbird crashes (unfortunately frequent, because of the numbers of folders and emails), my unified folder suddenly contains *all* of my folders, rather than just the 2 inboxes from my 2 different accounts, which is what I want and what I set up when I configured unified.

When I go into properties --> "select the folders to search" it allows me to uncheck 1 folder at a time. BUT I have 1,931 folders !

Is there a way to uncheck all folders in "select the folders to search" and then I can just check inbox in each of my 2 accounts?

As you can hopefully see, the Dark Theme is the only one that doesn't look absolutely terrible - but why is there no contrast color on the light- and system-themes? For the system theme I guess you could blame the system theme but the light theme? What's happening there?

During a troubleshooting episode to confirm forwarding from gmail accounts, the email password was reset by the provider Spectrum. Email works properly on a Windows desktop computer but from the time the reset was accomplished have been unable to receive emails on iPad or iPhone. Have entered the new password in mail settings but get the following message: The IMAP server is not responding. Check your network connection and that you have entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server". The password and settings are correct for the mail account. Checked the password saved in settings/password for the email account and found a different password. Tried that password but same message. Am I missing something?

Thunderbird Inbox Draft Flag keeps rechecking on only one of my 3 email accounts. This problem started recently, probably after the latest update to Thunderbird, which is now 115.12.2 x64 on my Win 10 22H2 desktop.

I installed the add-on FolderFlags so I could see and change the flags, but after I clear the Draft flag on the one Inbox, the flag is checked again after I restart Thunderbird.

The annoyances generated from this problem are making me want to change email application.

I started up my machine this morning, for Thunderbird 115.13 (I could've sworn that I had a later version last night, but updates and version numbers are Mozilla's problem, not mine) tells me that I can no longer use my profile with this fancy new version and need to create another one. After fuming about that idiocy for a while, I canceled the process and imported everything from my old profile.

It fouled up mightily on the passwords, but I got past that obstacle course.

Now, I see that my "Today Pane" is empty. Looking at the calendar, I see why: Thunderbird apparently pretended to import three calendars, but skipped all but two old events. I can create more empty calendars, but that is incredibly unhelpful. One calendar is local. One is an online ICS file published by an organization. And the third (the one that had two events picked up) is subscribed to an OwnCloud account's calendar, and may have worked. The first is obviously the most important, since I'd rather not spend time working out the database schema so that I can manually input every single event and appointment.

What hoops do I need to jump through to refill my calendar? I'm running on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, with the Thunderbird Flatpak (commit c2e09fc595198cf5c467ddad1fab56c0be512758584e16c3b933f2410968306a according to the command-line, if that gives any clues) installed. And again, I feel like that setup used a significantly later version of Thunderbird recently, so figuring out how to undo Flatpak's decision to downgrade would also presumably solve the problem.

Dzień dobry,

przy odtworzeniu profilu Thunderbirda na nowym komputerze z Windowsem mam problem z wiadomościami, a mianowicie nie wyświetlają się - jest lista, ale z pustymi polami (zdjęcie w załączniku). Po kliknięciu na wiadomość pokazują się nagłówki. Problem raz na jakiś czas pojawia się u mnie w firmie na różnych stanowiskach. Edytując plik folderu wiadomości zauważyłem, że koniec linii jest zapisany w CRCRLF, zamiast CRLF. Naprawa folderu z poziomu Thunderbirda nic nie pomagała. Rozwiązaniem okazało się usunięcie nadmiarowego znacznika nowej linii CR - napisałem sobie program do tego celu, który udostępnię w sieci, ale fajnie by było, aby ta funkcja naprawy była w samym Thunderbirdzie.

I have used "All mail" option in Search Messages window to search and store in a local folder emails which were: - received recently and are unread - received in the past 7 days - sent in the past 7 days

Since yesterday (2024-07-17), the local folder (and subfolder) for them emails received (both unread and within 7 days) has disappeared. The one for sent is still there.

Most importantly, there is no option "All mail" in the Search Messages windows.

For the steps I have already tried, I have multiple email accounts within I need to search. And Global Search is activated. I have TB 1 profile. I have deleted the global-messages-db.sqlite and re-created it.
