I answered about 20 emails by using the reply button. All the 'repy arrows' were there. After logging out and then in the nice purple arrow had disappeared. Whats up

It on the Thunderbird email client 24.4.0 on a Windows 8.1 machine

I would try restarting Thunderbird with any add ons disabled to see if one is causing this. You can do this from the Help menu.
