I cannot send or receive messages on my Thunderbird a/c. I Believe I have to firstly update my email password from my supplier (Spark New Zealand) but to date I have been unable to do this. When I tried to do this on line Thunderbird indicated they did not recognize my email account at all. What should I do?

Greetings, recently our pc was attacked ,malware. A new windows program was installed. This resulted in some apps being deleted. One of which was the Firefox email. Inspite of many attempts to reinstate it I have had no success. There is great difficulty in finding what to do to reinstall. There are assumptions that I have particular information. Other than our 3 email addresses we do have any code numbers or passwords, as these to were also lost. As it has been several days since the "repair" the inability to access Firefox with historic emails is now creating a number of serious issues. I need urgent help in reinstalling our Firefox email. My inability to find that one person who I know can help is out there. The FAQ were of no help. The request how to reinstall Firefox does not appear to be a FAQ. Ross.

I just noticed (after 7 yrs) I have Thunderbird(beta) 32 bit on my laptop windows 10 (64 bit machine) and Thunderbird 64 bit on my desk top Windows 10 (64 bit machine). How do I get the 64 bit Thunderbird on the laptop without loosing all my settings to login to my 4 email accounts?

I back up my TB profile every few months. I just went thru the Cox-Yahoo email conversion and I am getting emails. When I did my back up, I noticed in the properties it had one more folder and the files went from 1311 to 2585 files. Is something wrong? Do I need to compare and research what is causing this or just move on!

I don't seem to be able to self help very good anymore, can someone please take the time to teach me / guide me through the steps ?

Not sure of the best way to ask this. I am using TB 102.13 on a win 7 pro desktop machine.

Cox recently ported my email acount to Yahoo. There are about 100K emails in my cox inbox that were ported to yahoo. After modifying the server settings in TB so that I can use TB with the Yahoo server (I use POP settings), TB now sees all of the 100K emails as new, and each time I click the "get messages" button it starts downloading all of the 100K emails. I closed out of TB to stop the download.

I am told that in order for TB to only download actual new emails from the Yahoo server, I must let this process run. However, my official TB inbox uses about 30 filters to place incoming emails into the correct folders as they are downloaded.

All I want is to download the emails currently on the Yahoo server into a new created "dummy" inbox folder so that after the massive download, I can delete the folder and get back to being able to use TB appropriately. Can someone provide a 'how to" for doing this? TIA

Thunderbird 115.12.1 (64-bit) on Linux Debian 12, I have several accounts in a panel on the left. When the accounts are collapsed, they unexpectedly expand and make it difficult to know which account's email I'm reading on the right.

How do I control that behavior, please?

After the update to 115.12.2 (64-bit) installed, I made a couple of changes to tasks and TB went sideways and crashed, and continued to crash upon startup every time I restarted, even after a reboot. So, I copied a backup of my AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird directory onto the TB AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird dir. Now TB starts, but I have only Mail and I see no way to get Calendar/Tasks back. Regularly the messages in some subfolders are doubled. I don't know why or how it was triggered. It is very annoying, because some subfolders contain a lot of messages. Since I don't know how to get rid of this double messages, except by deleting them by hand one at the time, it is a very time consuming matter. I tried repairing the folder, but that didn't work. I already have had a folder where all messages were doubled several times. So every message was there six, seven, or eight times! I have been using Thunderbird a long time and I have emails going back about twenty years. This means that the built in import/export feature is hopeless. So I copied the entire Thunderbird folder to the new computer. I was able to transfer thousands of emails, but when I looked more closely I saw that my new Thunderbird only went back about 2 years. I recently got a new PC with WINDOWS 10 and loaded Thunderbird to pick up my email. However, now the mail client keeps making new profile folders, which I keep trying to delete. I am up to 6 now. THey are all in my deleted section of my Local Folders. How do I remove them for good. I thought all deleted items were supposed to disappear once you close the program, no? I have an existing Outlook account which I am able to use on the Outlook app on Windows, the Android app and the web version on outlook.live.com I wish to have an e-mail client on my Linux Mint machine from which I can access my Outlook e-mails.
