Since I downloaded Firefox 5 I have a problem with a process avp.exe in Kaspersky anti-virus 2011. This process uses 70-80% of my CPU slowing my system almost completely. This only started after I downloaded F5. Is this just a coincidence?

Sorry, I can't draw conclusions without data... but as far as I know there aren't any known negative interactions between Firefox and Kaspersky. If you have any extra information, please tell us!

Apparently, avp.exe causes a lot of problems for Kaspersky users. It is an anti-malware process. My system was working OK until I sterted using F5. Task Manager shows that my CPU is running at 100% with avp.exe being responsible for the majority of it. I`m waitjng for a reply from Kaspersky but thought I`d see if F5/Kaspersky users had any similar problems or solutions.

The file avp.exe is part of Kaspersky's application. See:

The only conflict you may encounter is with any toolbars that Kaspersky may install in browsers, if they have not been updated to show compatibility with Firefox 5. That will not affect the protections offered by Kaspersky as far as scanning incoming files or the files on your hard drive.

You can post in the Kaspersky forum for more information about Firefox 5 compatibility and avp.exe information: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=8db6580c55e05780bdc9da42a2cbe63c&act=idx

No problem. I've asked some developers, and, again, no issues were noticed in the community.

On the topic of the Kasperski toolbars, has anyone tried using compatibility reporter, does that solve the toolbars problem ?
