Are you talking about the 'Message Pane' area which is below the list of emails and is used to display contents of an opened email ?

Has it completely disappeared ? If yes:

  • 'View' > 'Layout' > select 'Message Pane'

You can also toggle the 'Message Pane' on and off using the 'F8' key on keyboard.
