Why was this changed? I always used view image, and if I needed it in a new tab or a new window I could use control + click or shift + click. This literally removes a feature for no reason. I don't want my images in a new tab all the time, sometimes I don't need the current tab. I'm just dumbfounded

"View Image" has been replaced with "Open Image in New Tab". Maybe someone will create an extension to restore this feature to open the image in the current tab, so you can check the Add-ons website.

Bring view image back, this new open image in new tab is just wrong.

Wait… Mozilla have GOT RID of "view image"? You've got to be kidding me.

This is an ESSENTIAL, EVERYDAY function. I "view image" a hundred times per day.

PLEASE can someone tell me there's a way to get it back?

Opening in a new tab is a totally different function. I don't want to open images in new tabs.

When Mozilla make HUGE changes like this… why can't they TELL US? Why not just bring up a message saying "Firefox 88 has some new features, and removed some features… 1. You can no longer 'view image'. We removed it because [reason]…"

Is there some website I can go to where I can hear Mozilla's explanation for why they've just disabled one of the core features of a web browser? Is there a "reason" for this somewhere?

Are Mozilla trying to shed users? Is this a deliberate effort to force users over to Chrome or Edge? If not, then the idiot who decided this was a good idea needs to be thrown off the roof for everybodies sake. BRING BACK "VIEW IMAGE", OR GIVE US A CONFIG SETTING SO WE CAN DO IT OURSELVES IF YOU ARE TOO ARROGANT TO CORRECT THIS STUPIDITY!

You can look at this extension: "View Image Context Menu Item".

I must concur with the frustration over having an oft-used capability simply eliminated without justifiable explanation, If you wanted to clean up the Image context submenu, you should have eliminated "Set image as desktop background" or "Email image", neither of which I EVER use. I would like to be pointed to the dev discussion thread which proposed and approved such a counter-productive change. I would also like to formally request re-addition of "Image Info" submenu item in a (NEAR-future) update. Simply dumping FF for Edge or Chrome is not an option, as up to now the FF dev track has been one of providing the most feature-rich, friendly and secure browser option. Thank you.

I don't think this site is run by Mozilla staff, only volunteers. I don't think Mozilla would see anything posted here.

Mozilla, what on earth are you doing??

90% of the time, when I visit a site where I'd *want* to use View Image, I'm visiting that site FOR THE IMAGE. And now I have to open it in a separate tab - a foreground tab, no less, which leaves the old page still open, so now we all have to switch tabs to close the site we didn't want to stay open in the first place...

Absolutely appalling. Opening an image in a new tab WAS ALREADY POSSIBLE via Ctrl-click - now it's FORCED, and the only option to bring back the NORMAL BEHAVIOUR is to rely on third-party addons that you have to grant permissions.

What the hell. What in the world are you doing. Firefox, we love you, but please stop hurting us.

The easy right click to view image info was one of the primary reasons I use firefox. I have no idea why on Earth somebody would remove this feature.
