control click actions do not work on firefox 25

I just upgraded to Firefox 25 on MacOS 10.6.8. When I want to do control-click stuff, like "Open Link In New Tab" or "Save Image As...", nothing whatsoever happens. I don't get a new tab, I don't get a dialog asking where to save the image, I don't get an image in a default location, nothing. This cuts me off from enough functionality that I downloaded Google Chrome to get my work done.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can check for problems with preferences.
Rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js and user.js files to reset all prefs to the default value.
