Can't get into onling banking after using forget browsing.

more options

I recently started using the Forget History icon offered by Mozilla. It works great, but when I use it, I can no longer get into my online bank account without having the bank send me a special code because I appear to be on a different computer. I'm having the same problem with online newspaper and magazine subscriptions. I used to simply clear my history once a day and never had these problems. Is there a way I can use Forget History without having this problem?

The Forget button removes cookies, which is where the bank has stashed its secret sign that it recognizes your computer. You probably should return to Clear Recent History, which offers much more control, if you want to keep those cookies. I don't think there is a Clear Recent History button, but it has the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Delete.

Alternately, I think there was an add-on that would back up cookies you told it were important and restore them if they got cleared. I can't remember what it was called, but you could look for something like that here if you like: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/
