How can I restore my status bar?

more options

I had a status bar, but I removed it because I wanted to try out something & the bar was causing a possible problem. Now I'd like to restore it, but I can't figure out how to do this. Please tell me it's possible. Thanks.

Were you using an extension to create that status bar?

If I recall correctly:

  • Firefox 1-3.6 had a Status bar
  • Firefox 4-28 had an optional Add-on bar, with status messages superimposed over the bottom of the page (above the bar)
  • Firefox 29 and later do not have either of those bars, but there are extensions to restore the Add-on bar, such as Classic Theme Restorer and The Addon Bar (Restored)

Why did they remove it? Also, I have the "Classic theme restorer" add on. So how do I restore the bottom status bar?

Oh, you have CTR. Could you check the toolbar list, either:

Is the Add-on bar listed there?

If not, Classic Theme Restore has a zillion options and since I don't use it myself, hopefully you can find it in the Options dialog. You can open that from the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then find Classic Theme Restorer on the right and click its Options button.
