When I hit wear it, it won't stick. when I go into add-ons and enable the persona of choice it does work, but the original one comes back after I close firefox, and open it back up. this one personal comes back even though I disabled, then even removed it. On a perhaps related issue, some of my icons on my desktop are now grayed out, although they still work, I can no longer set Desktop wall-paper by right clicking on an image, and when I go into my windows live mail, a RSS feed pop-up shows up before it loads new emails. My main concern is the personas however

Hi Rebekahrox,

You should take a look at the article Preferences not saved. I think that might solve your issue for you!

Hopefully this helps!

Hi Matt, I located the pref.js folder as described in your link (it seems to be called just "prefs" in the list, but there is an error message when I try to open it. It reads partially Error:invalid character Code: 800A03F6 source: MicrosoftJscript compilation error. What now? Can you give me any guidance? should I proceed with the instructions to replace corrupted file? That seems a little above my level of expertise, but I can try.

Windows seems to be hiding the .js file extension of the prefs.js file.

You can move the file to another location to see if that makes changing the persona work.

per my reply to Matt above, when I try to open the prefs file, I get an error message. when I click edit I get a whole page of code. When hit restore previous versions I do get a pop-up box that looks promising, If I knew what to do from there. when I right click properties, it is not hidden or read only. Moving the file? How and where?

If you want to open the file then you must not double click the file, but open the file in a text editor (e.g. Notepad) via the right-click context menu. But that may not give any indication what is wrong.

You can move the file to another folder or to the desktop to make Firefox create a new file.

I have the same problem (just the personas stuff, not the other things Rebekahrox described) . So I looked up the "Preferences not saved" page and after reading it (English is not my native language so it might be I got something wrong) I renamed my "pref.js" file and firefox created a new one. All my preferences were gone the next time I started firefox. I installed a new personas and well, after restarting my browser the old one appeared again although I can't find it among my add-ons. Where does it hide? Unfortunately I don't like that persona very much and only wore it for some days in November. But it keeps getting back and back and back...

Maybe we should start a support group, mandoist! Thanks for posting. It saves me from taking that step and adding to my frustration.
