I was trying to import my old profile from a linux computer into a new download of Thunderbird on a Mac. Somehow I deleted the new profile rqlrq3y3.default from the Mac and Thunderbird won't open - error message "Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded". I used troubleshooting and sure enough the profile is blank. I thought I could fix the problem deleting Thunderbird from the Mac and downloading it again. The same error message comes up. How can I reenter the new profile name into Thunderbird on the Mac? Thunderbird won't open on the Mac so I can't create a new profile. Or, what else can I do to fix repair the lost new profile? Thanks for any suggestion.

given you apparently know where the "profiles" folder is to identify the rqlrq3y3.default is missing.

Go up to the folder above it and delete the profile.ini file and then start Thunderbird. Without that file a new default profile should be created.

Do not set up any accounts in that profile. replace it's content with the content from your Linux installation.
