Do you mean the Create PDF extension that adds a toolbar button to save the current page as a PDF?
Firefox should automatically discover that extension where Adobe lists it in the Windows registry. I notice in my registry it is listed only in the 32-bit node and not in the 64-bit node, so this might explain why it is not found by your installation of the 64-bit version of Firefox.
If you are familiar with the Windows registry:
- Found Here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions => web2pdfextension.15@web2pdf.adobedotcom
- Missing Here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions
I don't know whether it's safe to copy the missing value from one part of the registry to the other, or how else to make it visible to Firefox.
Oddly, I didn't see anything in a web search, so either this hasn't generated a lot of discussion or ... it's a new problem in Firefox 48?
Or you could switch to the 32-bit version, perhaps by switching the two when applying this article: How to switch from 32-bit to 64-bit Firefox.
Probably a good idea to make a backup just in case: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Yes "Create PDF extension that adds a toolbar button to save the current page as a PDF?" is my question.
Found here as you said: Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions
Name: web2pdfextension.15@web2pdf.adobedotcom
Data: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Browser\WCFirefoxExtn Note the data sounds like Acrobat Browser, or to display PDF's?
Your right it doesnt show up here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions
So maybe the create toolbar doesn't work with Firefox 48 64bit?
I have the stock IE11 which I think runs in 32bit and works with the create toolbar. I could try to get IE11 to run in 64bit and see if create still works. Getting IE11 to run in 64bit isn't easy though. And I'm not sure it would prove anything in the log run.
Suppose I could try un-installing Firefox 48 64 and installing 48 32.
Thanks for your answer. Looks like I'm the only one that brought up this issue.

The extension is Create PDF, the plugin for viewing PDFs is under a different set of keys. Firefox 64-bit won't use any plugins other than Flash and Silverlight, but that shouldn't affect the extension.
Do you want to try creating the missing value and see whether Firefox can use the extension?

Sure I'm willing to try. Please tell me how to create the new key, to copy-type where?
If I seem slow to respond its cause I'm only online from about 9-12 PM.
Thanks, 811a

I forgot to ask if the 32bit version supports more plugins?

on Windows the Win64 Firefox only has the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins white listed to run.
The 32-bit Firefox on Windows and the 32-bit/64-bit Firefox Mac OSX and Linux builds does not have this limit with Plugins.

You could try this:
(1) Select and copy the following:
web2pdfextension.15@web2pdf.adobedotcom
(2) In RegEdit, expand
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions
(3) In the blank space on the right side, right-click > New > String Value
(4) Paste the value name you copied from above
(5) Select and copy the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Browser\WCFirefoxExtn
(6) Back in RegEdit, double-click your new string value web2pdfextension.15@web2pdf.adobedotcom and paste the above path and click OK.
Then start Firefox and see whether it will recognize the extension and ask you to approve the installation.
jscher2000, Doesn't seem to work. Started Firefox Nothing, Rebooted, started Firefox nothing. Nice try though. Guess if i really want this feature id have to install the 32 version.
I have included some snips just for you to review. who knows i might have done something wrong.
Thank you very much for trying, 811a
It was worth a try. I haven't seen mention of anyone else getting it to work or not getting it to work. Probably not a lot of Firefox users have the full version of Acrobat that also get to choose their own version of Firefox (i.e., locked down corporate desktops).
