I have a microsoft sign in icon on my desk top and want to place that on the menu bar of the browser - does anyone know how this is done - in SIMPLE steps ? Be very grateful.

Are you using a web based email service? How are you signing in to that email account?
In Firefox you can only place a link to a website on the Bookmarks Toolbar, so a possibility is to bookmark the log in page of the email provider.
