Hi. Since the last update of Firefox, the Languages item on the right-click menu has disappeared and I don't know how to swap between languages for spell checking any more (the explanation on page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-use-firefox-spell-checker doesn't correspond to what I see new: isn't it outdated?). I find where to change the display language of menus and commands in the Options, but not where to switch between spell-check dictionaries. So I have menus in Portuguese and spell-check fixed on English... Can you help, please? Thanks.

Paolo

Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages sub menu. At least one dictionary should be installed and have a check mark to indicate that it is selected.

  • open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.

The spelling checker is enabled if [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a checkmark.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

You can look here for dictionaries:

Note that for spell check you need a dictionary. A language pack provides string translations for the user interface.

You can check on the about:config page that layout.spellcheckDefault is set to 1 (multi-line) or 2 (single-line).

Hi co-rel. As a matter of fact the Firefox spell-checking function was working, but in Office365/Outlook apparently it is superseded by the internal spell-checking and the menu appearing with a right-click is different... Sorry about this, I just hope my case helps others in the same predicament... Thank you and best regards.
