Okay, I renamed places.sqlite & all several times, then downloaded bookmarks from X-Marks again. Tried different accounts on Windows and still have problem. I've even tried disabling add-ons and enabling them one or two at a time. Many are still disabled. Still no go.

I use FF for web development and troubleshooting and I need my bookmarks to be there for me.

An obvious workaround would be to export the bookmarks to HTML and open that file whenever you need your bookmarks.

hi. do one thing at a time.

without using xmarks, play bookmark some sites, restart FF, and see if the bookmarks stays.

you might want to start with a fresh ff profile for this.

Thank you both, yecril71pl and ieNine. Before I left this afternoon I tried to first 'Backup' my bookmarks (json file) twice from the library 'Import and Backup' menu item. I got the two following script errors:

Script: file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Firefox/modules/utils.js:798

Script: file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsPlacesDBFlush.js:248

Then I tried to 'Restore' the json file and got these script errors that halted the script:

Script: file:///C:/Users/me/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/n8131uvz.default/extensions/testpilot@labs.mozilla.com/modules/experiment_data_store.js:101

This one twice... Script: file:///C:/Users/me/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/n8131uvz.default/extensions/testpilot@labs.mozilla.com/modules/experiment_data_store.js:153

Script: file:///C:/Users/me/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/n8131uvz.default/extensions/testpilot@labs.mozilla.com/modules/experiment_data_store.js:111

So could this be a problem with testpilot interference?

Finally, I exported the bookmarks via HTML and later imported the HTML file. I turned off my computer and left for the day.

I just returned home an hour ago or so and at least my Win7 computer loaded up FF and the first time in days, my bookmarks were all there. I won't get to the Vista box until tomorrow.

So, yeah, with Xmarks and HTML exporting I now have a good work around. But the script errors seem to me to be the problem with FF.

I'm gonna keep track for a few days and if this happens again, I will write up a support ticket and have better descriptions of what went wrong when and where.

Thanks again... ddearborn
