How to stop tabs disappearing when cursor not a top of page

Having the top tabs disappearing is very, very annoying. Besides, the top tabs let me know where I am at a glance. This constant appearing and disappearing depending on where my cursor is disorienting.

I understand the desire to maximize page content, but I am willing to sacrifice some space to know where I am and avoiding the constant jumping of the screen content.

Chosen solution

This would normally only happen if you are in Full Screen mode (press F11 to toggle).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
