I was browsing some forums and Firefox just kept crashing , it did it 4 times in a little over 10 minutes

These are the crash reports just for today , it has also crashed 3 times just this month not counting these 4 today , and 5 times in February , 6 times in January ,and 5 times in December , its getting old with this crashing situation , i hate IE and Google Chrome , but at least they don't crash all the time

Crash reports for today:

bp-5ccdcc1d-3c27-4675-8971-758002160313

So why does it keep crashing ?? , and what can be done to stop it from doing this all the time ?

Any help would be appreciated .... Thanks ... Jim

EDIT:

It just crashed again as i was submitting this post

You can check for issues caused by plugins.

Create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

Sorry for not replying sooner , i have been busy ......

So are you saying its a Video Driver Issue ?? , because its done this even after 3 different Video Driver Updates , the drivers did not fix the issue in the last 3 driver updates i did , as i have been having crash issues for quite a while now (a few months , as you will see in my posting history) , where it just randomly crashes , sometimes several times in a day , like i posted , also , how do i remove a Add-On from the list , i have a Java Deployment Toolkit , that i have disabled , that is RED , but i don't know how to remove it from the list , i also have a Silverlight plugin that is RED , and it said to update to fix the issue , but when i try to update it from the Add-Ons menu , it goes to a Mozilla page that says Firefox BLOCKED it for my protection ??

It may not be a driver issue per say. It could be the settings, or something blocking flash.

Latest Video Driver , latest Java , Latest Flash

Its been doing this thru several Firefox updates , but the ones i listed in my first post , is kind of typical , it just crashes in the middle of reading a page , or when clicking on a link , it does not seem to matter what website i am on , or what time of day/night it is , it just randomly crashes , and does so , sometimes several times within minutes of each other without warning , and no matter how many times i completely close the browser session and open up fresh , , then sometimes i go days without a crash , it did crash today as well

could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

So what does all that mean ??

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

So your saying spyware is ONLY affecting Firefox , but not IE or Chrome ??? , i find that hard to believe , and the last spyware checks i did just a few weeks ago with Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool came up clean , as did Spybot Search and Destroy which has been installed on my PC right after i built it last year , i have had this issue with Firefox crashing for MONTHS

You did not mention what was found in the last reply i asked about , , about what was causing my issues , i did not see the word spyware in anything that i pasted , or in what was posted in reference to my question about what i was asked to copy/paste from that troubleshooting page i was told to paste here

Before i spend hours scanning my PC for something i see no reference of showing i have , i would like to know why i need to check for something i have eliminated a long time ago as the cause to the crashes , to me its a Firefox issue , since it does not happen in other browsers , then i would think its not a spyware/virus issue

I need more info before i waste hours just to prove a point that its not the issue

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Again , i am asking , WHAT in the info i posted leads you , or anyone to believe that spyware is the issue , i have not seen anything posted that indicates i have a issue related to spyware or a virus , and as i mentioned , i have run tests , and NEVER has ANY test i have ever run (including McAfee and other "online" tests) , indicated i have any type of infection , on this PC EVER , so as mentioned , before i waste hours doing this , i would like to know what was found in the info i provided that indicates there is anything other than a Firefox issue , or just what specifically was determined from the info i provided , so i would like some conformation before proceeding , besides the fact that i do not have this issue with other browsers , which leads me to believe it is not a spyware/virus issue

Hello ???

Again , can you , or anyone tell me what the info i posted says is wrong (specifically) and why does this only happen in Firefox ??

I do not want to waste hours scanning my PC for something that is not there without PROOF that something is there , not one person has said , "this" is why your having these crashes , i do not want to waste time scanning for nothing , i had the same issue with my Internet Provider , they kept saying my DNS errors were caused by my PC and Spyware , after hours of scanning , we found NOTHING , and it was determined after they actually listened to me , that the issue was on THEIR END , since the errors only happened when i was connected to MY connection , but if i took my PC somewhere else (its a desktop, so its a pain to drag around) and got on the internet at a friends house , i did not receive any DNS errors

So with this in mind , i need positive PROOF that this is NOT a Firefox issue before i waste another minute scanning (seems to be the "easy" answer for everyone , if you can't single out the issue , then it must be spyware) ....

I would just like a resolution to this ongoing issue , it has been a issue for a long time , BEFORE i built this PC , and after building this PC from scratch with the OS and everything including hard drive , all new , i still have the issue (as it did this on my old PC, it was even on a different internet connection) , this is why i am posting here , i know for a fact its not spyware or a Virus , i just wish others would take the time to investigate before jumping to conclusions without any basis for the conclusion .. , if it was a Virus or Spyware , then IE and Google Chrome would randomly crash as well , and as much as i dislike both of those browsers , they do not crash , in fact i can't recall EVER having a IE or Google Chrome crash , but Firefox does it daily ,..... yes daily ....yet no resolution after constantly complaining .....just guesses that i might have a virus or spyware , without any fact posted to confirm the "guess"

Its been a week since my last post and no response ....i would like ANSWERS , not guesses ...........Thanks ......Jim

So this is how Firefox handles issues  ??? , by ignoring them ?? , i have had lots of crashes since my last post , and still no ANSWERS , i don't want guesses about spyware , i submitted my Crash Report , and have not got any answers as to what specifically caused the crash , (telling me to check for spyware is not a answer to why it crashed) and since each crash was on a different website , and ONLY happened in Firefox , it CAN'T be spyware or a Virus , unless the person that made the Spyware/Virus , specifically did so with the main purpose of messing with Firefox users , or Firefox specifically , which i find highly unlikely

So again i am asking , WHAT (specifically) is causing these crashes , what specifically in the crash reports , states what caused the crashes ?? , and How is it FIXED (without wasting time on Spyware Scans that will find NOTHING , and have been done before and found NOTHING !) , does anyone (working or volunteering for Firefox) have a REAL solution to these crashes , i have done every Firefox update , and still get the crashes , so something was not fixed (kind of how Microsoft does things as well) , and its getting old , i am about ready to start using IE , as bad as that sounds , i am getting tired of constant crashes , without any resolution to the issue

This is what i get when i click on that link , the other link works fine ,, also , the crash happens on ANY website , not just Craigslist , it happens on this website

This is the link you directed me to , i tried it 4 times with the same result

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at browser.fixup.domainwhitelist.craigslist.org.

Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

So i don't know what it is your trying to direct me to

You need to paste this in the search bar that is part of the about:config page to filter the results on that page. You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue. You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar
  • "about:" is a protocol to access special pages

OK , so i set it to "False" , is that it ?? , and what did that do ?? , and why was it set to True ?? , or does that matter , and what about every other website that i am on that Firefox crashes the exact same way on ?? , some days it will crash a dozen times within minutes , some days it will crash once in 3 days , it does not matter if or when i re-boot the PC , and it does not matter if i re-boot the Modem , my PC generally stays on 24/7 , i re-boot it once a week or so , or if i am installing a driver ,

So what your saying is the cause of all the crashes i have had for months and months , is from that 1 thing ??? , whatever it does .... , which i still don't know

Firefox is obviously unuseable if it crashes so frequetly. No one has as yet apparently proposed any workable solution.

As a test install Firefox Developer Edition (DE). Do not use any plugins with it. Set them all to disabled. Ten minutes testing should then see if that is an improvement or not. Firefox DE installs by default as an extra browser with its own profile, so it will not harm or affect your existing Firefox install.

If that does not immediately improve, and stay improved then I suggest you bite the bullet and try the malware scans. If you get crashes in DE in that configuration please post two or three Crash IDs . I personally do not understand the causes of your prior crashes. I may have more luck with your next lot.
