I'm using Thunderbird version 60.3.2

I use Thunderbird to access two Gmail accounts.

I've been doing this for years.

For one of the Gmail accounts I can no longer receive emails due to an invalid password message that started yesterday, yet I can send emails from that account.

I have no problems with my other Gmail account.

I successfully changed my Gmail password hoping to resolve the problem, still receive the same error message.

I can receive my emails by going to the Gmail site, using the same password that Thunderbird has a problem with.

I've been a Thunderbird user for well over 10 years, have also been a donator.

I totally dislike using Gmail to access my emails, Thunderbird is such a superior product, love all its features.

Please help.

Thank you.

Chosen solution

Are you talking about a pop mail account? If yes, then it is possible gmail are deliberately blocking your access.

Logon to gmail webmail account and select the option to use 'less secure apps'. https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en

Yes, both Gmail accounts are POP.

You may not have noticed from what I wrote, but only one Gmail account out of two had the problem, the other wasn't effected.

Prior to reading your solution, I changed my password twice and I actually did try "less secure apps" to no avail.

Today it worked.

Still doesn't explain why there never was an issue with the other Gmail account.

Thanks for your time!
