I have started using FF Nightly, it is also set on auto daily updates. However, if I misspell a word while browsing , I get a red dotted underline to show that the spelling is wrong, when I right click on the word, nothing happens no drop down menu or alternative words are shown. NOTHING. What do I have to do to get spell check to work .

Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.

  • Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
  • Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.

You can look here for dictionaries:

Have tried to download several English dictionarys, however all I get is a drop down warning saying that this particular dictionary is not compatable with FF Nightly. What Now ?

The Nightly should come with its own en-US dictionary.

You can check that in the dictionaries folder in the Firefox program folder.

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\

If you do not have it then do a clean reinstall of the latest Nightly build.

Hi. Thanks to all for your answers.I must admit that I was becoming single minded and narrow focus in my search for an answer.Absolutely none of the general suggestions did anything. I did restores, and uninstalls, cleaned the registry and generally got myself screwed up tight . Yes , you are right, the simplest problem. A damned intermittent wireless mouse on the right click side. I THOUGHT that it was working OK too. I have now ordered a new Logitech M525 wireless mouse.
