Microsoft Edge is not my required default browser, Firefox is. How do I avoid Edge everywhere?

I have upgraded to Windows 10 and find that in many detailed places, it keeps reverting to Edge as the default browser. I want to get only Firefox. How can I stop Edge being forced on me? There is nowhere to uninstall it. When I identify Firefox as default from within Firefox, nothing changes. How on earth can Microsoft abuse its own customers in this way?

What does this have to do with Thunderbird email client?

Google how to set default programs in Windows 10.

There is an article specific to Windows 10 because Microsoft made it trickier: Make Firefox your default browser on Windows.

Even if Firefox is the default browser for many purposes, there still may be some applications that send links only to Microsoft browsers.

Somehow your question ended up under the Thunderbird product. Perhaps you used a support link with did that automatically. Anyway, it is under Firefox now.

More importantly, any progress toward solving this problem?

Hi Airmail - no, I still have this problem. I wonder if there is some Registry change possible - I see that regedit is still operable on W10. As one problem example, when I use the standard "search" option at lower left of main home screen, the response if web search is selected, is displayed under Edge and not Firefox. This is even though under Settings > Apps > Default Apps, I have got Firefox set as my default browser! I can go looking on web forums but haven't done so yet. Thanks for your interest.

Microsoft is not making it easy for users to send searches from the system search box to Firefox on Windows 10. These articles are all the information I know of at the moment:
