[Approved] Cleanup, remove old info, fix internal links

  1. I made a revision to fix internal links, removed references to individual extensions in the "Firefox opens in Safe Mode" section and made other updates. Needs review.

  2. It needs to be archived once [[Firefox crashes]] has been updated. See [/forums/knowledge-base-articles/705107#post-36966]
  3. Yeah, but updating Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) could take awhile. There's not even a discussion thread proposing an update. Anyway, who's to say that this article will no longer be needed afterwards? Why not update this article now?

Yeah, but updating Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) could take awhile.

It's in Michael's objectives, that is #top 20 viewed article with bad feedback, so Michael will update it soon.
P.S.: I won't because I have more than 25 articles in pending review with no one willing to approve them.

  5. I posted a new thread to the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) discussion forum with a link back to this thread:

/en-US/kb/Firefox%20crashes/discuss/1652 Needs update ATTN: Michael Verdi

P.S. I know that there are lots of articles in the review queue and that many are yours. Too bad the priority on pending KB article edits isn't higher and that so many KB "approvers" are inactive.

  7. Followup, in case it helps for this article:

The solution in the "Crash Help Please? thread was based on a crashID the user posted to the thread, obtained after starting in Firefox Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. It linked to Bug 658780 - Start-up crash with incompatible version of some extensions .... Although Firefox would start in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode, the user was not able to disable extensions. (He said the list of extensions was empty and the other option, to select "Disable all add-ons" and "Make changes and restart" did not restart Firefox). He also said that a new Firefox profile also crashed (so .. the extension was globally installed?) and he had previously disabled hardware acceleration and that didn't work either. After the user uninstalled the McAfee security suite itself, he was able to start Firefox. Details here: /questions/851787?page=2

  8. I've approved the changes to this latest revision (since I'm getting to it before verdi's changes to Firefox crashes), thanks for improving it!
