No sound when using Firefox

All was well before Firefox 24.0 was installed. Now there is no sound when trying to play any video. After the problem startede i downloaded Chrome and it works as it should. All the other programs on my laptop that play music/video work fine. I tried disable plugins, restarting Firefox in safe mode, uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck. Thinkpad T400 Ubuntu 13.10

Is this only with Flash or with other plugins as well and with HTML5 audio/video?

Did you check the volume setting in the volume control (PulseAudio)?
