Firefox has been crashing on me all day
Over the last few days it's crashed a few times and it's never done that before until now. First one site I use to be able to use is now unusable at all. I go to that site and it shuts the browser off or says firefox.exe has found a issue. Just today it crashed while opening a google document that I have used before and just a few minutes ago it crashed while I was shutting a tab down.
I have not upgraded yet and I still have been getting notified about it. Could that be the issue though? I have it set to tell me if there is one but to update when I want it to. It's a stretch but yeah.
I'm not really doing anything different at all though.

Hi,
You can of course try updating Firefox which may help solve the issue. Additionally you may also have to update the Plugins in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons and check. If the problem persists, please also try to Reset Firefox via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.
(To revert to the previous profile you were using, close the new profile (i.e. exit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the Default User profile. While the Profile Manager is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers), or the former profile, as the case may be). If the reset is okay, it would be a good idea to delete the old profile as otherwise it would be left intact with the previous data/cache until deleted.
I won't update my FF just yet. One site I play on a lot has had a lot of issues with it and a major part of their site so until they get that all sorted out I'm using this one till then.
I use the default user profile. What would happen if I did reset that? I don't want to lose any bookmarks.
If my guess is right it seems to be happening when the screen that should pop up saying to update to 14.01 is making it crash. It seems to be around the time it should come up so if I disable FF checking for updates at all would that possibly stop it if it is what's causing it?
If it is that and disabling it helps that'd be great. Although I'm not wondering with how it messed up on a Google Doc earlier it was still slightly messed up since then.
I think Reset was added in Firefox 13, so you would have to do it the old fashioned way: manually create a new personal settings folder (AKA Firefox profile), then copy over your bookmarks and other key data.
As you probably recall from earlier threads, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (this will log you out)
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
If the site is too unstable, you can open that dialog from this page, then change the site at the top of the dialog to the one that's causing you problems. Don't include the www (or any other part) before the main domain name.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Well on the one unusable site I never thought to try that but on the other one it's not just me so I can't do anything until they figure it out.
I have no clue if it'll help or not I been avoiding it and even removed it from the bookmarks that I had it in. Dunno maybe it'll help I'll try it later. I don't want it to mess up my FF right now. -lol-
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:
- bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
- You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

It seems to be working well right now. I just opened the same google doc and it didn't crash on me. Must have been my internet messing up on me yesterday and being slow. Going to keep an eye on it today and see if it messes up any and then I'll come back and say if it did or not.
Worked normally all night last night and still is today so I'm hoping to god that is over! :)
