I actually do not want to update Firefox....other software needs must have Exp. 8....how can I return to version 8 after accidentally saying ok to 9?

Download old versions from Mozilla FTP ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ and disable auto-updates in Firefox options.
