I thought Firefox Sync was supposed to sync open tabs. It doesn't seem to do anything like that, or am I missing something that should be obvious?

I primarily use Firefox on a remote desktop Windows OS but the delay when watching video is painful so I like to back out to my native Mac OS. I have FF Sync set up on both so I figured if I opened up my Mac FF while the remote Windows FF was still open to the page I wanted, it would give me that page. It doesn't. I tried Syncing before moving over but that didn't help either.

So what's the deal with Firefox Sync in regards to tabs? Is it supposed to sync my open tabs or not? If so, what do I need to do to make that happen?

Thanks.

Hi!

I'm not sure if I understand properly but I believe that you are looking to have the same tabs open in both of your computers.

Firefox Sync does allow you to see the tabs that are open in a different machines but it doesn't replicate the tab set up.

In order to see the tabs that are opened in a different device simply go to "History -> Tabs from other computers" or type "about:sync-tabs" in the address bar. If this page is empty, make sure that you have chosen to share Tabs in your Firefox Sync settings. You can do that in the "Sync" sub-menu within the "Preferences" menu.

Let me know if this is helpful or you are looking for something else.

Ah ha. No that's not the way I thought "tab syncing" worked (kind of deceptive to call a feature TAB syncing when it's really just a simple history sync) but at least that method will work for me. Thanks!
