Is there any feature or add-on to hold my place on a page using the scrollbar?

Eg if I'm reading an academic article, come across a figure I'd like to use, scroll to the top of the page to copy and paste journal + author info, and instantly (with one click on the scrollbar) return to the figure?

Pressing backspace works on Wikipedia articles when I press the hyperlink to the references on the bottom of the page. But the scroll-placeholder feature would come in handy when there are no hyperlinks available.
