Can you turn off the location text that appears on the bottom left for links in Firefox 4?

The text box that appears when you mouse over a link and it shows the location in the lower left. Can you turn that off? I find it annoying.

The easiest way is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages or links, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead.

I love how people are touting an addon for a version of Firefox that looks like it's just in the testing stage. I don't want to risk my bookmarks and settings getting deleted over this.

it would even be nice if there were options to change the status text such as length of time of popup, on/off, similar to how an information bar is customized. what makes it so annoying is that is pops up and never goes away and if you hover over it then it goes to the other side of the browser
