If I understand you correctly, you can create an account in Thunderbird with name, password, server info, and the IMAP folders and messages will immediately be available. No importing required.

Hi, no, I'm talking about importing the accounts.

IMAP accounts are on a server. They cannot be imported anywhere. If they're on a server you administer, they can be moved to another server by a server administrator. Maybe it will help if you explain in more detail.

I too am trying to find what I need to do to import Thunderbird profiles, including specifically the passwords. The import and export features seem to work well in this new 102x series of releases, with the exception that it does not import the passwords for each account. I notice that some of your related (referring to David) answers to others is out of date or you are not understanding the questions as a normal person does - e.g. you recently told a user to go to tools, settings, security and then passwords - this current version (100 and above) and for some time I suspect is simply settings, security, passwords (not tools). If you put yourself in the OP shoes - you would understand that it would not be practical to go searching for passwords for hundreds of email accounts - so I will re ask the question - is there an option or switch that also imports passwords for the respective email accounts?

@mekuranda - First, if you're really attempting to present yourself as a considerate participant, you would start your own thread. Second, offensive comments do not endear you to anyone here to assist you. Third, I refer to 'Tools' on menu bar as many users who post here need specific guidance on locating where the settings reside that relate to their questions. Telling people to start with 'Security' will cause them to then ask where it is. Fourth, passwords are a security feature and, if importing was supported, it would be with the profile import, which you already said does not do that. That's what normal people would understand.

I re read my comments and don't see anything that is offensive. I merely pointed out that your instructions were out of date. I also mentioned that you did not understand the OP question, from his point of view - the only one that matters in a support role I suspect. Giving him an incorrect sequence of menu items would not help someone asking this kind of question. I mentioned the correct sequence of menu items, "settings, security, passwords"

I did not understand your answer to my query, regarding passwords, you mentioned "if importing was supported" ...I don't know why you would say that - modern Thunderbird and its forks do have a new noteworthy feature of importing(Thunderbird) profiles, (and various other options) - this was a major part of the upgrades in the 102x versions. I have to assume you know this, being a top 10 contributor, so why say to me that "if importing was supported" - it is, I will assume you have not tried it then or noticed the announcements when it was released months ago.
