firefox goes blank when ac power is plugged in and lag problems highlighting textt

After years of using firefox i may haver to stop due to the following two problems i cannot resolve: 1. All firefox screens/tabs go blank white after the ac cord is plugged into my laptop, nothing the otherway round. Problem does not occur in other web browers. I tried disabling hardware accelaration as suggested but no luck.

2. Highlighting text is laggy/sticky so that i do not quite know what i have highlighted until i hit copy or cut and then find extra words suddenly become highlighted and are cut or the first letter of a sentence is missed off. Basically i cannot control what is precisely highlighted anymore either when using the mouse or the 'shift/ctrl and curser keys'

I have complety deleted firefox including ay additional related files/folders and then reinstalled it. This did not fix the problem either.

hello drjalps, your graphics driver is very old which could cause issues - please try updating your graphics driver: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%207%20-%2064 (this should be the right link for your system) in case this doesn't solve the issue, try to disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
