new identity profile still doesnt allow me to log in with a different yahoo account?
I researched how to open multiple yahoo accounts in firefox anf followed the directions. Despite the #2 appearing in the new identity profile window, once I sign in with my second yahoo account it does not allow me to access my emails but switches me to the other window with the already open yahoo account. please advise

In Firefox all browser windows and tabs use the same cookies that will identify you to the server.
If you open a different account then existing cookies are send to the server and the server sees that you already signed on (authenticated).
You can look at one of these if you want to sign on with different identities at the same time:
